Customs Commissionerate
Mundra falls under the Mundra Customs Commissionerate, with jurisdiction over import and export clearance at the port and connected ICDs. The commissionerate is CBIC's largest by trade volume. Customs officers work in shifts 24/7, making Mundra one of India's most efficient ports for clearance timelines.
Standard Clearance Timeline
For a well-documented shipment: Day 1-2 — BoE filing and risk assessment. Day 2-3 — If 'Out of Charge' (no examination), goods released. If First Check ordered — physical examination typically on Day 3-4. Day 4-5 — Duty payment and final release. This assumes no document discrepancies or queries from customs.
Examination Types at Mundra
CBIC uses Risk Management System (RMS) to decide examination. Green Channel — no examination, straight to release. Orange Channel — documentary check only. Red Channel — full physical examination. First Check — 100% examination ordered by AC/DC. Second Check — random sampling after release. Most clean shipments go through Green or Orange channels.
